The film’s release, which is an adaptation of a book by author Colleen Hoover, was surrounded by much controversy. Now, Lively is suing Justin Baldoni, producer Jamey Heath, Baldoni’s production company Wayfarer Studios, and its co-founder Steve Sarowitz.

In addition to accusations of harassment, the actress also named Jed Wallace, Melissa Nathan, and Jennifer Abel for promoting a “social manipulation” campaign and defamation against Lively.

The lawsuit claims that Baldoni and Heath changed the script after Lively signed on to play the role of character Lily Bloom, adding “improvised intimate content,” according to a report from People magazine. Baldoni allegedly removed such scenes from the film after Lively “objected.”

Lively also allegedly claimed that the intimate scenes were improvised by Baldoni, stating that they had not been “rehearsed, choreographed, or discussed” before filming. Additionally, she said that there was no intimacy coordinator present on set.

The lawsuit further claims that Baldoni and Heath displayed a “shocking lack of boundaries,” including discussions about their personal lives, previous relationships, and addiction to adult films. Lively also alleged that she was the target of a deliberate defamation campaign during the film’s promotion in August, aimed at “destroying” her reputation.

Baldoni’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, stated that the lawsuit is filled with “categorically false accusations.” However, Lively denied that she or her representatives spread negative information about Baldoni or Wayfarer Studios.

“I hope my legal action helps expose these sinister retaliation tactics aimed at harming people who speak out about misconduct and helps protect others who may become targets,” she told The New York Times.
